As expected, Marvel has released more character posters in its Avengers: Age of Ultron marketing campaign. And like the previous two posters featuring Iron Man and The Hulk, these new additions fail to thrill.
The posters released today feature Thor, Black Widow, and Nick Fury. And as you can see below, there’s nothing particularly special about any of them.
My big problem with these character posters is that they’re not really showing us anything new. They’re just the same heroes we’ve seen several times before. Seriously, how much thought does it take to slap a character in some hero pose on a poster and call it a marketing campaign. I will say, though, I like the apparent upgrades to Black Widow’s costume. There’s kind of a Tron-esque feel to it. Can’t wait to see what those are all about. And I’ll be bummed if it’s just so she can go jogging at night without being hit by a car.
Please don’t take my snark as a sign that I think the movie’s not going to be any good. The trailers have looked amazing, and besides that, I trust director Joss Whedon. I’ve been a fan of almost everything he’s done (with the possible exception of Alien: Resurrection, for which he penned the script).
But I think I still need a bit of a reminder of how awesome this flick is going to be. I think I need to re-watch that most recent trailer. Hulk Buster FTW!
