Movie studios spend millions on marketing their films, especially their tentpoles. And this summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is as big a tentpole as they come.
First off, I have to say I like what a lot of these studios are doing in relation to marketing. Some of the viral campaigns that have been launched in recent years are pretty amazing (my favorite has been what Lionsgate has done with the Hunger Games movies). A staple of marketing campaigns these days is the character poster, and today Marvel has released the next of its Avengers: Age of Ultron posters, this time featuring The Hulk (an Iron Man-centric poster was revealed yesterday). Take a look below:
To me, this Hulk poster is pretty blasé. This campaign lacks the intrigue and creativity of the Catching Fire and Mockingjay campaigns. Though, I do like the cool, spray-painted Avengers logo in the corner. All in all, I suppose the poster still does what it’s supposed to do, which is get me jazzed for the movie. The Hulk does look pretty intimidating.
So, what do you think? Do you like the new poster?
Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1.
