the animated adventures of buffy

I’m going to geek out for a minute.

Anyone who knows me may also know that I’m a huge fan of Buffy. In fact, every few years I go back and watch the entire series. Angel, too. Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m a huge Whedon fanboy fan. And when I saw the following … well … I need this to be a real thing. I give you The Animated Adventures of Buffy (after the jump).

I love the little details and easter eggs in this thing. Like in this shot of the Scoobies (Buffy, Giles, Willow, Xander with eyepatch, Dawn, Spike and PUPPET ANGEL) running down this hallway with portraits of the “Big Bads” from all seven seasons: the Master, Spike and Dru, the Mayor and Faith, Adam, Glory, the Trio, and the First.

Or Willow, Xander and Dawn with the ghosts of Anya and Tara.

Or this Joss homage which features Xander playing with a model of Serenity  and Iron Man and Cpt. America (from The Avengers) action figures. In the background, there is a poster for Cabin in the Woods. The Wolverine poster is a representation of the cover of issue 1 of Whedon’s run of The Astonishing X-Men. The xenomorph refers to the fact that Joss wrote Alien: Resurrection.  I told you I was a fan.

And then there’s this shot featuring the the Gentlemen, from my all-time favorite Buffy episode, Hush.

Anyway, this thing is made with 100% win, and I need someone to get on this pronto. I miss me my Buffy.

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I lost track of Buffy and the gang somewhere in the middle of Season 9 (meaning the BTVS comic series that continued the story after the show ended). Eventually, I’ll go and grab the trade paperbacks and catch up, though.
